Borlains Rule Alaska Ironkids Aquathlon

Perennial Alaska Ironkids participants Samantha and Tara Borlain ruled their respective age divisions at the Alaska Ironkids Aquathlon at the Wow Pool in Subic Bay. Samantha topped the 13-14 girls division with a time of 14:39 while Tara captured the 11-12 girls division with an identical time of 14:39. The siblings finished the swim and run course and crossed the finish line at the same time. Their third sibling, Franchezka didn't make the podium finish but still managed to compete well as she finished fourth in the girls 6-8 division. The Borlain siblings are daughters of former World Bodybuilding champion Ringo Borlain.
Over at the boys division, Sabino "Bambam" Manglicmot captured the 13-14 boys division title with the time of 13:47 besting Neil Nazzaro (15:00) and Joshua Ramos (15:17). Juan Francisco Baniqued topped the boys 11-12 division followed by Jasper Neo Gaspar and Juris Aaron Tan.
Proud parents cheered for their children from start to finish. Some participants were even cheered by other parents as they tried to compete and overcome the swim and run legs.
Other winners are Matthew Thomas Alumbres (boys 9-10), Gabrielle Ong (girls 9-10), Michael Gabriel Lozada (boys 6-8), and Ma. Chelsea Faith Minoza (girls 6-8).
Over at the relay category, Team Hodges captured first place honors at the Relay Category 1 while Tri Kids dominated the Relay Category 2.
Alaska IronKids Philippines is an annual sporting event that aims to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among children through the winning combination of proper nutrition and physical activity. The Alaska IronKids Race Series is just one of many sports development programs that Alaska conducts yearly to engage children to come out and play.
The last leg of the Alaska Ironkids series will be the Alaska Ironkids Triathlon to be held in Cebu this August, which serves as the curtain raiser for the Cobra Ironman event. Parents can still register their children on this website: http://ironkidsphil.com/registration/index.php
