Manila, Philippines – ONE Championship (ONE) is set to return to Manila on December 11, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City for a highly-anticipated match between top ranked heavyweight contenders Brandon “The Truth” Vera and Chi Lewis “Chopper” Parry with the winner to take how the first ONE Heavyweight World title.
At the ONE: Spirit of Champions Press Conference held at the City of Dreams Manila, Vera announced his goal of winning the first ONE Heavyweight title in front of his people. “I am a US citizen but when I come over to the Philippines, I represent home” says Vera. “If I could fight here all the time, why not? I love fighting here” he added.

Vera, who traces his roots from Tagkawayan in Quezon province, is one of the most revered Muay Thai expert and recognizable figure in the world. His last fight was an impressive victory over Igor Subora in his ONE Championship debut last year.
Parry is a 6’9 British giant, who has one of the most imposing frames in Mixed Martial Arts today. He remains undefeated and boasts of five first round victories under his belt.
Asked about his comment on Parry’s jabs at him on social networking sites, he said he’ll make it a long night for Chi and he’s going to make sure he’ll regret everything. “I want him to be hurt. I don’t want it to be over in the first or second. I want to drag him in the fourth and fifth round and play around him.” claims Vera. He further adds “I’m going to make him question why he’s here”

In other fights, Filipino-American Mark “Mugen” Striegl is set to meet top Australian bantamweight Jordan “Showtime” Lucas. Striegl currently owns a 14-1 professional MMA record with 12 submission victories. He aims to tarnish Lucas’ unblemished 8-0 record. “He’s a tough fighter. But I’ll be fighting in Manila, no one is going to beat me here in front of my hometown fans.” says Striegl.
Another Filipino fighter headlining ONE: Spirit of Champions, Ruel Catalan, aims to get back on track after two consecutive setbacks. He will square-off against Brazilian Alex Silva.

Lastly, Filipina-American Ana “Hurricane” Julaton will battle against Russian kickboxer Irina Mazepa. Julaton, who is entering her third MMA fight, has won all her previous bouts with the recent one over Egypt’s Walaa Abbas via unanimous decision.
CEO of ONE Championship, Victor Cui stated, “Each year in Manila, we try to outdo ourselves by putting on increasingly exciting fight cards for passionate fight fans in the Philippines. Get ready for an amazing night of world-class MMA action!”
